“If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. 2 Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. 3 For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.” (Colossians 3:1-3)

When God called Moses, He revealed Himself as the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob—a God of three generations. Likewise, when the Lord Jesus was on earth, He worked to raise a team of faithful men who could continue the work after His departure.

Neither Moses, the apostles, nor even Abraham could have imagined the powerful way the Lord would use them. They were ordinary men who simply strove to please and obey the Lord.

Recently, in Bogotá, the Spirit prompted me to anoint a new generation of pastors. Some of them were couples who had patiently served for many years and had been tested over time, while others were young couples whom the Lord had brought out from behind the flock to work in His ministry. None of them expected that moment, but all were ready to accept the call and responsibility. At that moment, the Lord led me to share this passage from the book of Colossians, and today, I feel compelled to share it with you as well.

1. Dream Again of Pastoring
The Word teaches us that the harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few, meaning the Lord always seeks people willing to serve Him. It is essential to understand that pastoring is a great honor, and before the Lord imparts that anointing, He must test each person’s heart.

Dear friend, if you have ever felt the Lord’s call, I invite you to consecrate yourself, work diligently and patiently, and dream again of becoming a pastor. If you are faithful, the Lord can use you powerfully one day.

2. Seek Things Above

I know many people with a tremendous calling and even bear fruit in ministry, but they allow small things in their hearts to disqualify them. They seek to be prominent, receive glory, or be admired. Such people can never receive the anointing. This is why the passage in Colossians gives us explicit instruction to seek heavenly things, eternal things. When working in the Lord’s ministry, think of glorifying Jesus’ name, not your own. Think of bringing salvation to many freely, helping the needy, and pleasing the Lord’s heart.

3. Do Not Be Distracted by Earthly Things

Many have let their call to pastoring fade because they focus too much on earthly things, worrying about debts, family situations, and more. While these things are essential, and the Lord provides for them, they should not be our main focus or what robs us of sleep or faith.

A person called by the Lord works in the eternal, not the material, knowing that everything else will be added to them.

4. Pursue the Dream with Passion

The apostle Paul concludes by saying, “We have died,” and our true life is hidden in Christ. This refers to the fact that our hearts must not hold anything of the old self or selfishness. You cannot pursue God’s dream and your dream at the same time. Being born into pastoring means dying to your own desires.

My prayer now is that the Holy Spirit rekindles the calling in your life and that you dream again of the call.
